Thread: Cyborg R.A.T...The Lambo Of Mice!?

Default Cyborg R.A.T...The Lambo Of Mice!?

I am a Big Razer fan boy but have been tempted to buy the Cyborg R.A.T, In particular the R.A.T 7

Any R.A.T users/owners on the Nag?

    Quality of the R.A.T.S?
    In-game experience?
Compared to Razer high-end mice?(Imperator(My mouse), Mamba, Naga etc.)

Which one should I go for? (I do like the infection)

    R.A.T.7 INFECTION

    R.A.T 7 CONTAGION

    http://www.cyborggaming.com/prod/rat7contagion.htm

    R.A.T 7 THE ALBINO

    http://www.cyborggaming.com/prod/rat7albino.htm

or should I wait for this :)

So long as its a 7 and not the 9, you should be fine. Its easily the most impressive mouse I've seen. As for the Orobourous, we've seen symmetric ambidextrous mice before and all have failed. Its possible this might be a hit, but its not going to feel the same as one made specifically for right/left hands.

I sincerely do not mean to hijack the topic or anything of the sort, but I've got a tiny little silly question..

What exactly is the major difference between a gaming mouse and a standard logitech mouse or such? I can see the design is quite radically different, but are there any major features that make it worth while? I suppose I could actually look this up.. but allow a bit of laziness now and then! :P

Better responsiveness. more sensitivity, higher DPI count for accuracy and a better feel in-hand. That's about it.

Not to mention faster response times (polling rates and all that, if that's what you meant with the first one :P), easier grip as Wesley said leading to less fatigue in the long run. Also, better cables to last longer, extra buttons for the rest of the fingers doing nothing on the mouse to use.

One of the most important ones to remember - a gaming mouse is more robust. A standard office mouse will NOT withstand the pressure of a high-speed DotA game for long. With a 140-APM average over 30 minutes for me alone, you're looking at 4,200 clicks per game. And with close to 2,000 DotA games already played, you can see that you end up with close to 8.5 million clicks for DotA alone over the 3-year time I've been playing. About 1/3 of those clicks are in battle, meaning you click furiously, hard, fast and you can't expect a failure then.

Then another one also mentioned - as Wesley said - better feel in hand is almost prompting me to buy a gaming mouse for the office. I work with a mouse all 8 hours I am at the office, and I am getting tired of the old Compaq mouse hurting the outside of my right had, all the way down to my pinky due to the "ambidextrous" design. I'm a lefty, but I use the mouse as a normal right-hander would without problem, so a decent gaming mouse may be the way to go. Maybe an older MX518 or something...

Wesley why did you say if its the 7 its fine the 9 not?

    These mice are super cool.

takes very long to adjust it JUST right but once you are there it is a very very nice mouse to play with.

And please dont tell me its wireless and cant be used for gaming .

And as to OP `s question. almost all mice are better than razor.

Logitech at the top followed by the rest.

We can have a bet that by next year this time the most sold mouse for the 12 month period would be the G400 from logitech :D

    Sorry wesley "ninja"
    The 9 is wireless.
so the 7 would be the best choice.

Well the wireless option does work very well for gaming, but needs to be charged every nine hours. What kills it is the polling rate that's used and the fact that interference can play a role in how quickly the battery life drains. You'll need to slot the mouse into what looks like a very fiddly dock to charge it and it takes about an hour to get back up to full battery. Beats buying replacement batteries though.

Its more like the scenario moving from wired PS2 controllers to the wireless PS3 ones. With the wired one people didn't have to keep the battery life in mind. The mouse could have rather used Bluetooth and saved on more battery power, but at the expense of the sensitivity you gain from having a purely wireless option (802.11a, in case you're wondering). So long as you charge it back up to full every night you'll have no issues. Most people get into that habit eventually, though wireless mice for gaming wouldn't be my personal choice.

But I'm stubborn in that way, so ignore my prejudices :-P Its a great mouse, buy it if its in your price range.

Go have your head checked and then use a Razer Mamba or Death Adder for yourself.

Actually I tend to agree with him. I've used Razer mice in the past and I despise them. I don't really like Razer as a brand, but their mice really doesn't approve to me. They just don't feel of the quality you're supposedly paying for. Maybe it's just me, but they feel lightweight. I wouldn't go so far as to say that all other mice are better than Razers, but the more notable brands (Logitech, Cooler Master, Microsoft (Sidewinders), Steelseries, etc.) just feel better in my hand. Note Cranky is a big guy as well, so it may be because of our grips as well. My G500's grip is just perfect, and no Razer mouse provides that feel, in all honesty.

Exactely what toxxyc said, the feel of the mouse is jsut not right . the curve of it is too flat in msot cases or to round. Ive got a death adder wireless ( im speaking under correction here ) and the wires one is a diamond back.

So its not like i didnt give it a try.

They keyboards and headies are also not up to scratch with the other products im using.

The Rat 9 comes with 2 x batteries. So the one charges while you play. So it warns you on 5% ( or what you set it to ) And you then have time to make a plan to swap they batteries . ( this takes 5 seconds tops ) The battery lasts a good 4 hours on MAX everything ( for better response time ) and the lazer tracks perfect on my Glide 7 mousepad.

and now the "he is talking bs owning that many mice" I won almost all of them at lan events.

    Ive got

    Logitech

    Mx518
    G9X
    G400
    G500
    and my current baby G700

    Razor

    Diamond back
    Death adder

    Cyborg

    2 x Rat 9
1 rev 1 and 1 sealed Rev 2 that im goin to sell off

One thermaltake black Not the fan bs one haha

    1 alienware tact x

Thanks for the feed back Wes and others, the RAT Infection is not available in SA for the next few months but the Contagion is available.
To my knowledge there is only one distributor in SA and at a price of around R1100. Worth it?

Does the extra sensitivity matter when going over 3600DPI? I mean I leave my mouse on the default setting of 800 on the desktop, 1600 for some games. 1600 is way too sensitive for me already.

This. 6400dpi is simply insane. My G500 has 5 pre-programmed settings, the highest being (I think) 2400dpi, and is used only in games where you have to like aim with a tank or mounted turret that turns super-slowly. I cannot even use it at it's 5600dpi setting, you just fart and the pointer jumps across the screen.

A higher resolution makes a big difference, most notably when it comes to small, precise movements like sniping. My ideal balance is to set mouse resolution as high as possible and drop down the sensitivity until it feels just right. That way, you have super smooth motion at low speeds and can still have as much information coming from the mouse at high speeds (i.e.: acceleration).
