@Legion, I am. You seem to be having difficulty in having a human discssion. I don't know what you're getting so upset about but clearly it's affecting your senses. Feel free to PM me.

No. I don't like that smell. The smell of a freshly opened packet of ciggs is what gets me. My grandfather died absolutely rotten with cancer (everywhere) as he smoked a lot, and I can clearly remember the smell of a freshly opened packet of ciggs. Even now, when a buddy buys a pack, I ask him if I can open and just smell that pack. Man, I love that.

Oh, and pipe tobacco smells nice, given you smell it from quite a distance.

If you ever want to be put off smoking, try use a smoking room in a European airport. Ew ewness is ew.

This is true. As long its a decent brand and decent type. Dunhill Fine Cuts the black box. Smells amazing (Until you light it then it smells like fail)

I'm rather partial to cigars myself. Sunday evening, a double Whiskey on the rocks and a decent cigar and all is good with the world. Personally I wouldn't really mind if this law comes into effect, its rather bad form to smoke around people who don't want to inhale your fumes.

I am a smoker, & I do really like the smell of a cigarette that someone else has just lit.

When it comes to being considerate about the smoke, I'd like to think I make an effort. I don't smoke in my Car, or even my own house. If I want a smoke I go outside even if it's freezing, as I agree it's me who wants the cigarette, not anyone else. If I go out to the Mall and fancy a smoke, I'll generally park in the open air sections, & go stand by the car & have one.

Currently trying to quit, but I am one of those people with an addictive nature (probably why I find MMO's so addictive), so not finding it easy at all. I'm not getting any younger though, so Health being one of many reasons I want to succeed.

Without bringing in the topic of addiction, why people smoke and all the excuses why they do. I know smoking is my choice and i try to take responsibility for my addiction. I don't need a smoking area, il happily smoke outside and out of the way of bystanders. If i walk past someone i fan my cigarette and walk abound them. I simply try to be polite. People who smoke in public buildings, doorways and under windows should without a doubt be slapped with a fine, there is no way to defend their actions but i can't see why shop and building owners should be forced to enforce this law. The law is completely unfair towards shop and building owners. Why should they take responsibility for all the smokers? This law is obviously just a way for the government to make some easy money. If they really cared about everyones health they would put more effort into stopping children from getting addicted in the first place. I'm guessing everyone here started smoking before they were 18. I started smoking when i was 13 and i have almost never had problems buying cigarettes. Shop owners don't feel threatened because no one is doing anything to stop them from selling cigarettes.

Not upset at all geo, if anyone ever thinks i'm upset, please don't.
Unless i actually say i'm upset, i wont be if i used caps some where i'm sorry.

Fair enough as a smoker i also do not enjoy second hand smoke.
That's why as a smoker i am fair to those around me.
I will position myself away from them.
In a group of 7 gamers two of us smoke.
When we do visit for lans smoking depends on the place and the person.
I guess not every person is so in tune to respecting the space of others.

I enjoy smoking.. i have tried to quit so many times.
I don't want other people to start smoking.
But i don't want people to eventually ban the thing i enjoy.

For one lets as gamers lets take games as a example.
Highly addictive, if played way too much can effect your health as well.

But it has no negative AOE "area of effect"
"i'm not talking about your friends doing a weekend long minecraft marathon"

    That's the issue. "the smoke"

Eliminate the smoke issue and the problem is solved.
"there you go Cigarette industry... get to work"

Smoking without the smoke. Seems legit.

    Let's call it "breathing".

Mocking a person for their intelligence is a sign of insecurity.
This is a clear case of.. we wont let you smoke i guess.

Legion, are you going to start contributing something of worth to the thread, or are you going to continue spewing your nonsensical nonsense? Because right now every post you make is even worse than the previous and only serves to make you look a bigger fool.

Really a unfriendly bunch of dicks, IDK why i even joined.
Figured there would be people here but allot of you guys just make it impossible to post anything.

I see how this works now, agree or be flamed.
You guys are a cancer of this place.

Do any of you actually buy the magazine and read it?

I didn't see anyone disagreeing with you here, Zoop and T_kill3r were simply moving forward the discussion(albeit rather tactlessly) to try and identify with your point of view.

Anyway, posting comments like the above doesn't make for constructive discussion and will almost certainly result in a lock... May I suggest you guys take it to PM maybe?

Legion, what is your issue? "Agree or be flamed"? You're the one who's flaming here. Zoop wasn't mocking you, he was having a laugh. It's a light-hearted thing, and he had a good point (e-cigarettes).

Like this is not being nasty?.
Telling me my posts are useless.
I rest my case with that.
I was actually being very fair about it..

Some people have actually posted to me telling me that they live in fear in saying stuff on the forum....
    WHY IS THAT?

^^ this sarcasm here is a example of actually ripping on someone's words and points.. i get the joke ok..
    But not at my expense.

Talking on forum without abuse... lets call it respect.
Just as smokers should respect the space of other people.

But according to others my points are invalid... because someone's E-Chode is a dragon.

Legion, you are quite possibly one of the most insecure people I've met in a while. If you can't take it when you make a somewhat silly post and people laugh at it, then what are you doing on the internet?

The last year, maybe year and a half, I've actually noticed that people on these forums have become a lot more tolerant than they used to be. Those people PMing you, they are probably the people who get flak for continuously making posts that adds nothing to the discussion at hand. We get a lot of those people, the type who wants to make '+1' or 'I agree' type posts.

Be honest with yourself here and have a look at your posts in this thread. Do you really think all these posts lamenting how mean everyone on the Nag forums is to you are adding to the topic, which is whether smoking should be banned in the public sphere?

People don't have a problem with you, they have a problem with your posts not adding to the discussion.

Edit: Eek, sorry, posted this just before Geo, it seems. :P

Zoop posted that in response to your post "Mocking a person for their intelligence is a sign of insecurity."

Legion, everyone here seems to be into being sarcastic or mean, including you. You're as guilty of being unhelpful as everyone else.

With that said, I think we've all sort of missed the point in this discussion and it's only going to become more petty and less useful as things go on unless people stop making attacks on other people and just argue the points. That counts for every person here, including me, so I don't want anyone to think that they're being singled out.

It's obvious that we all have different definitions of things like fairness, opinions, and respect, but I hope that we can at least all agree to get along purely for the sake of furthering the discussion or dropping it altogether.

No more attacks, no more sarcasm, no more unfounded jabs at peoples' opinions. Let's move on, hopefully forward.
