Guardians of the Galaxy Movie to be Announced at SDCC
Most of them you will see from the Annihilation and subsequent Annihilation: Conquest comic events. The Guardians of the Galaxy team was formed right after.
I really looking forward to seeing Quasar (Phyla-Vell) was one of my favourite characters.
Plus I heard Thanos will also feature in this. Which means this will have an effect on A2 ...OMG!
Cosmic marvel is awesome, this could be a great sci fi flick if done right. Also heard Nova might be involved despite him not actually being part of the guardians of the galaxy team
It will be interesting to see how they handle the massive CGI element, also how will they make Rocket Racoon look. Since he's not a normal looking dude. But once again its Marvel!
Head to the link to find out who the Guardians of the Galaxy really are and a brief history on them.

Thanks for that link, because I have NO idea who these guys are. Literally none. Never heard of 'em.
I'm not a comic book fundie and there's always the odd obscure character that I don't know, but a whole team? This is so weird.
With massive CGI. If you're actually wondering if they'll be using props and rubber suits enhanced with CGI in order to give us that "it's actually there" look, then that's something I'm willing to ponder. I'm not a big fan of full-CGI myself. It will be interesting to see how they handle the massive CGI element
Damn, I need to get some of these comics. Looks awesome, never heard of them...
More info will be revealed soon
Marvel's superhero team from space, the Guardians of the Galaxy, will be hitting the big screen in 2014 with an announcement to come at this year's SDCC.
Latino Review broke the news that Marvel's mystery 2014 movie will be the Guardians, but the Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the announcement will be made at Comic-Con this year.
In its story, THR reported that Nicole Perlman has written the Guardians' script and is well regarded within the studio. The movie also fits best with Marvel's grand plans.
With the success of the Avengers, Marvel Studios is planning to increase the scope of its shared movie universe with at least two movies a year. After the Cap, Iron Man and Thor sequels there was plenty of speculation as to who would get the Marvel movie treatment before the Avengers 2 in 2015.
A popular possibility was the Guardians of the Galaxy, especially with the villain reveal during the mid-credits of Avengers, but Marvel remained silent about it.
The announcement is expected to be made on Saturday July 14 between 6 and 7pm.
The Guardians of the Galaxy are a group of space traveling heroes from the 31st century. They have a long standing history within the Marvel Universe, but remain relatively unknown to casual fans.
With a rich cast of team members, that has changed over the years, the Guardians of the Galaxy could be the next sleeper hit for Marvel.
So it's 2014 then
Official concept artWe heard rumors over a month ago that Marvel might be announcing a new movie about Guardians of the Galaxy, their comic series about a group of superheroes who defend the universe in the future. The evidence seemed pretty solid, especially since Marvel had confirmed they were planning a secret new project, and now we've learned that it's for real: Marvel indeed announced in Hall H today that they're planning an animated Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and they've set an official August 1, 2014 release date for it.
That makes Guardians the fourth film they've got official in development, along with Iron Man 3 and the Thor and Captain America sequels that also recently got new titles (More on that in a bit!) There's still tons of news coming out from the Marvel panel, so keep coming back for more!

I was sooo excited for this, until I read "animated". Not that it's a bad thing, but a live action movie would have been awesome, and would probably have fit better in the Marvel universe.
Some new plot details revealed , Looks to be okay, will be nice to see how this fits with the rest of the awesome Marvel universe.
James Gunn confirmed to direct and rewrite Guardians Of The Galaxy
Thoughts? It was thought to have been a done deal for a little while now, but Marvel has officially unveiled James Gunn as its director for Guardians Of The Galaxy, and has revealed that he'll rewrite the script to boot.
A script had already been written by Chris McCoy and Nicole Perlman, but Gunn has been given carte blanche to do away with that and write his own, as was the case with Joss Whedon on The Avengers.
Gunn is understandably excited about the project, and released an official statement via his Facebook page.
"For a month or so there’s been a lot of Internet speculation about my involvement with Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy," said Gunn. "Until now I haven’t said anything, because I’m trying to be less expulsive about this project than I am about the rest of my life. But last night I got the go-ahead from Kevin Feige to let you all know that, yes, indeed, I am rewriting and directing Guardians Of The Galaxy."
"As a lifelong lover of Marvel comics, space epics, AND raccoons, this is the movie I’ve been waiting to make since I was nine years old. Kevin, Joss, and all the folks at Marvel have been amazing collaborators so far, and we’re committed to bringing you something majestic, beautiful, and unique. I am incredibly excited.
"I am also incredibly grateful to the fans and the press for all their words of encouragement and support regarding my involvement with this project since the news first leaked. Thanks – you have, honestly, touched and overwhelmed me. And that’s it for now. Other than the occasional photos of my dog and cat here on Facebook, I’ll talk to you again in August 2014 when Guardians is released!"
Guardians Of The Galaxy opens in the US on 1 August 2014.
Okay this hasn't been updated in a while but here's some interesting cast news.
So far we have:
Chris Pratt (Parks & Rec.) playing Star Lord a.k.a. Peter Quill.
Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek) playing Gamora.
Dave Bautista (WWE) playing Drax the Destroyer.
Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) playing Yondu.
Glen Close(Fatal Attractions) playing "a leadership role in Nova Corp, the intergalactic space patrol" (according to deadline).
John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) might be playing Rhomann Dey, in what's described as an Agent Coulson type role.
Then we also have Lee Pace(Pushing Daisies) and Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) seemingly playing male and female villains.
So quite the ensemble eh.

Holy ****, this ****ing cast... I'm actually most excited to see what Bautista will do with his role. James Gunn has high praise for him, and I remember being impressed with him when I used to watch WWE. Chris Pratt, John C. Reilly and the hotness of Zoe Saldana are also great additions.
Plus there are rumours that Jason Statham will be voicing Rocket Raccoon, which I hope turns out to be true.
And it gets better and better:
Benicio Del Toro has apparently signed on in a major role too. "They are keeping his role under wraps, but he’s playing a character that is built to be part of future Marvel films, which means he has signed a deal with options that put him into multiple movies."
