Cape Town Showdown: Fight Club
CTS Fight Club will allow players to monitor their progress (play for points), learn matchups and interact with like-minded individuals on a regular basis. If you want to see how you stack up against some of the more seasoned players, or if you're new to fighting games and interested in learning from some of the more experienced folk, please feel free to join us. League matches will serve as a nice build-up to the official CTS event, which we are planning to run annually from now on. Bear in mind that we will be running tournaments as well. Our plan is to run leagues for 2 fighting games per month, followed by a tournament. Games featured in a given month cannot be repeated in a new month, allowing for other, less popular games to receive attention as well.
Our first league session (which was essentially a trial session) was held this past Saturday for SSF4:AE2012 (our 2 games for the month of July will be SSF4:AE2012 and KOFXIII). The current format for our league is as follows:
Match format: First to 2 (best out of 3)
Round-robin: (all players that are present play one another)
Character Lock: Character/team locks will be used for league play to encourage matchup research and improve matchup knowledge.
Point allocation: Points are allocated based on attendance and performance. A single attendance point is allocated to attendees. Absentees do not receive any attendance points. Each victory earns you 4 points. Each loss grants you 2 points. As mentioned previously, players who are unable to attend will not receive any attendance points. However, the absentee will still receive "loss" points. Bear in mind that this will have no effect on the absentee's win/loss ratio. This means that if players are unable to attend regularly, they won't fall too far behind and their win/loss results will only be affected once they actually attend.
If further elaboration is required with regard to the aforementioned, please let me know.
