I love violence in games, but I won't berate a game because it doesn't have it. After all, Castle Crashers is one of my favourite games and it sports minimal, cartoon blood. It's satisfying when it feels necessary, like the chainsaw bayonets in Gears of War. Of course it's going to cause gallons of blood to splatter everywhere. Unnecessary violence tends to detract from games though, unless done in a funny way. For example, in Borderlands, when killing an enemy who is much weaker than you, they basically get turned into soup. Saints Row The Third as well with its Apocafists. They're basically giant boxing gloves that turn people into bloody mist when you punch them.

I think it's that type of silly violence that I love. If it was realistic, I doubt I'd enjoy it. There are cases where I would, I'm sure, but I steer clear of realistic games for the most part. Gaming is escapism, so why try to make it seem like real life?
