Thread: Rayman Legends

    Default Rayman Legends

Rayman Legends is a platform game in development by Ubisoft Montpellier to be published by Ubisoft. It is the fifth main title in the Rayman series and the direct sequel to 2011's Rayman Origins.

The game carries on the style of gameplay from Rayman Origins in which multiple players run, jump, punch, and kick their way through tricky levels. Lums can be collected by touching them, defeating enemies, or freeing captured Teensies. Along with Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies returning as playable characters, players can control a new ax-wielding character named Barbara.[5] With up to four players controlling the main characters, an additional player can control Murfy using the Wii U GamePad's touch screen. Murfy can perform various actions such as cutting through ropes, activating mechanisms, grabbing hold of enemies and assisting in gathering Lums. These offer a range of levels in which co-operation is required to progress, such as levels that mix platforming for Rayman and friends with rhythm gameplay for Murfy.[6]

This is going to sound like a complaint but I hope they aren't rushing this out the door. I do want to play more and quite frankly they don't have to improve on anything really.

    But I hope they do.

Well, apparently it's going to be released in November this year.

Thought this was a Wii U exclusive, can't find any info saying it will be going to the other platforms only that Ubisoft are considering a release on other systems.

If so then I'll most likely never play it as I have zero interest in a Wii U.

Game is looking good though, hopefully it improves over the original and just isn't more shovelware.

Yep, it's only confirmed for Wii U, right now. Hopefully, this is just a time-exclusive deal with Nintendo. It would be a shame if Legends isn't ported to other consoles. With regards to what nukehead said about rushing development, I have to agree. As much as I enjoy the series, I wouldn't like to see it turn into another yearly released title, with little or no improvement.

Rayman Legends is a Wii U exclusive:

When Rayman Legends launches as a Wii U game this fall, that's all it'll be launching as. According to the last three or so seconds of the game's Gamescom trailer above, Rayman Legends will be a Wii U exclusive.

Considering the amount of touchscreen/Wiipad stuff going in this trailer, it's clear that Ubisoft has been taking Wii U integration seriously – we just didn't think it was that serious. All Rayman titles up until this point have been multiplatform, and since Ubisoft itself said the game wasn't necessarily an exclusive back in June, we kinda expected that to be the case.

We asked Ubisoft for clarification just to make super extra sure, and were told that "yes, Rayman Legends is a Wii U exclusive. It will be releasing in Holiday 2012."

Still, we'd be surprised if the game didn't end up other other platforms eventually, though we imagine quite a bit of rejiggering would be required to make Rayman Legends function on an Xbox. The PS3, however, could handle it quite easily provided there was also a Vita involved.

    Dammit. :(

Boo. This does tell me that they aren't just trying to capitalise on the franchise though... innovation and all that.

    I am the eternal optimist.

Wii U exclusive probably means I'll never play the game, oh well.
