As an Everton fan (and the only one on the forums apparently) our season couldn't have started better. I also couldn't understand why everybody was writing Everton off, it's not as if teams have an easy time at Goodison...

I am a life long Sunderland supporter (Tattoo an arl) been in my family for 4 generations. Strange that Sunderland, Newcastle, Villa, West Ham and Everton are massive clubs in the UK but have pathetic support overseas

Lack of success is the reason, imo. In England, you support your local team come hell or high water, even if they're crap. But obviously overseas, supporters don't have any connection (usually) to a club, and they tend to hop on the gravy train of the successful teams, except with the odd exception of Liverpool.

Liverpool have only struggled in recent years, they were a highly successful team in the past. They won Champions League in 2005. They have a long history of winning, and have taken the title (under the old League First Division) 15 times and the European title 5 times (4 times as European Cup, once as Champions League). So sorry, Liverpool is right there with Manchester. Until the arrival of big money at Chelsea and City, the title was usually between three teams - namely United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

International support is dropping for Liverpool(probably going to Man City)

If you had asked anyone outside of the UK who Man City was -2008, majority of them would of thought you are talking about Man United(Just ask Robinho :D). Now I see Man City shirts flooding the stores.

While obviously a heavily biased blog, I have to say that was an incredibly well written article, it's not often you come across an articulate football fan. He brings up some good points as well, especially at the end of the article. In Arsene We Trust.

Hey, a draw is better than what I thought would happen to Liverpool. Arsenal, while playing brilliant football, and controlling the game, still manage only a draw, and still no goals. It's only the second game, no need to stress just yet. But still...:/

And Spurs? I'm really not impressed by AVB and cannot fathom why he is using just one striker. That style of play has never really suited Spurs.

And congrats and all to the traitor on his maiden goal for United. I see there is speculation doing the rounds that Rooney may be sold off. Sounds far fetched but these days, with the money some clubs are throwing around, contracts aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

Liverpool should have actually have won that game, the City goals were really soft but overall it was an encouraging game especially from the perspective that our younger players (Sterling, Coates and Shelvey) had good games.

Chelsea's season really hinges on whether or not Torres can perform at his best throughout the season but if he does I wouldn't be surprised to see Chelsea walk away with the league.

Personally I think that Sir Alex bought Van Der Persie just so that City and Chelsea couldn't have him and will eventually use him and Rooney on rotation like Benzema and Higuain at Madrid. It wouldn't make sense for United to sell Rooney considering he is younger than Van Der Persie and I think a better overall player.

AVB's one striker makes sense considering he only has 2 first team strikers so it makes sense to have them on rotation as well as when you look at his best first team squad since he has excellent wingers in Bale and Lennon so it makes sense to use both of them. He has two excellent holding midfielders in Parker and Sandro which when he combined with the fact that he has 2 quality midfielders in sigurdsson and Van Der Vaart who like to play in behind the striker it makes better sense to set up his team in a 4-2-3-1. I would be more concerned about the fact that he is trying to change the whole defense which I'm not sure if it is the greatest plan in the whole world.

Great win for Arsenal! Not so great for Liverpool with their worst start to a season for 50 years with only 1 point off 3 games.
