I think thats what counter strike is though, its old school :) We are to use to spawning or a few seconds, so i can see why this would annoy some people.

    Dumb game.
Yeah, that's a the issue that I've had with CS since it first came out. Same reason I've always hated Sabotage in COD.

Yeah, I also never got into Counter-Strike because of that. I guess it might be a thing of personal preference, but being alive for 30 seconds just to wait 5 minutes to play again is not my idea of fun.

The risk vs. reward just isn't really balanced at all. It kinda makes potentially exposing yourself to your enemy feel extremely daunting, because you know you only have the capacity to take one bullet (or one more in the astronomically improbable event that your opponent's bullets somehow, magically, miss your face), and that if you die, you'll have to wait several minutes before you're forced to do it all over again... and for what? Even if you do manage to kill your opponent before he kills you (which is just as likely, depending on which way the wind is blowing), so what? You get like... a puny amount of money towards whatever gun you purchase in the next round which is 99% likely to be taken away from you as someone magically hits you in the head by merely pointing in the direction of the continent you're standing on?

Even if you were somehow stupid enough to believe that "skill" is a factor in this game beyond merely killing your opponent in 1 millisecond as opposed to 2, there simply isn't enough actual "play-time" for new players to get experience, since you spend most of your time dead. This leads to a lot of people leaving the game in frustration, or keep playing while calling the game crap, and everyone a "cheater".

This just doesn't translate as "fun" to me.

Maybe I'm just not enough of a masochist, I don't know.

I played CS close to competitively for about two-and-a-half years when I was still younger, and I can tell you that it's not all that at all.

    You get sniping as well.

I'm not sure what relevance your post has to... well anything, really. And the sniping makes it 100% worse, since if you poke your head around a corner, someone blows you away with one bullet to the head (and very infrequently, the torso, if you're really lucky, but you'll be dead anyway, so it's kind of paradoxical).

I did actually manage to get a little better at this game, since there's a game mode that lets you respawn instantly, thus allowing you to get more "hands-on" experience and a feel for the weapons, but I haven't managed to find the server or any like it, since the one day I played that about two weeks ago.

I was mocking the game. I know how it plays, I played it for a looooong time... :) I stopped playing because it's repetitive and becomes annoying to win/lose all the time. Because you do. It's never a close call for either side. One ALWAYS dominates the whole game and if you have one team member who messes up the whole game is in sy moer.

I chose DotA to play instead. That's died off as well.
