Thread: Intel releases some Ivy Bridge processors today!

Default Intel releases some Ivy Bridge processors today!

About a month or so back I reported that the Ivy Bridge Core i3 chips from Intel were releasing in about ten days. Ten days later, nothing happened. Ten more days later, there was less happening than the ten days before that. It now looks like the company was waiting on AMD's pricing structure before saying anything. I've already confirmed that several local suppliers will be getting stock of these chips within the next two days.

I like. Any idea yet on how the new i5 chips will be priced here?

Early prices that I got from Rebeltech were set at R1915 for the Core i5-3330, with other online retailers sticking to under R2000 in order to not compete with the i5-3470. Not too bad, all things considered. I'd much rather root for the i5-3335S, but we'll have to see how pricing is of that one.

The thing I like most is how this gives us many more upgrade (wallet) options.

Especially for the power-conscious among us. A 35W TDP for a spiffy dual-core i3 chip? Count me in. HTPC guys are going to love this.
