What happened to the Alien series?

Hi guys, I know there is a separate movie thread, but with permission I'd like to keep this apart from that as it deals specifically with the Alien series, and what went wrong with it.

I thought it would be quite nice to have this as a sort of companion piece to the thread on the game in the gaming section. (It'll also serve as a nice memory refresher.)

If you want to watch the entire series, type 'what happened to the alien & Predator series' in the Youtube search bar. There is one for the Terminator series as well.

It's quite long overall, but it's really, really interesting and well worth a watch.
