This is where you ask questions or make suggestions relating to all things Warcraft. Patches, type of servers, mods, etc.

If you want to start something at Rage in terms of a community run competition or just have a general interest in the genre and want to comment on it, post here. Please keep this related to this genre, and to the Open LAN Section only.

Please keep in mind that you will not be allowed dedicated servers of your own, if you have not confirmed it with myself. This includes laptops, servers without screens etc. There are two ways to bring a server to rAge. Firstly you can contact me, we agree, your server stays in the admin area, you remote connect to administer. Secondly you could just buy your server a ticket for rAge in addition to your own ticket. There are not dedicated server tickets that are cheaper, I just mean buy a second ticket and bring your server.

If you want to host a friendly comp, we can help in making certain resources available on our website at the event, but we will not get involved with the whole administration side of things. Thus you will need to give some details, see Server Template thread for what is needed.

Try and keep responses and queries related and mature.

all i need is a dota comp. is there gonna be one? like last year? the prizes were good to. thats all i want, couldnt play eswc, and i thought at least i have rage. is there dota? at rage?

Does anyone know if there has been a dota comp Scheduled for the open lan section?

If not I will host one, and I will work on a non-profit basis, for instance every sent I receive for entries into the competition will go into the prize money seeing as we don't have a sponsor.

Last Rage i did not know(thougth it was just a stupid mod) what DOTA was and played alot of Warcraft and owned.
Things have changed now i am ALOT better with DOTA than with Warcraft.

Just look for me at Rage someone there WILL kick your ass if not me (1500 people gone be there)

Hey if you cant wait till Rage you can always challenge me at one of these lans.

Dude just get the latest map before Rage from www.getdota.com its the official source
no hacked maps.

Latest version is v6.46b But i think v6.47 will come out before Rage.

Can get some cool ai maps there too just stick to RGB and Clouds AI the others are crap.

Is there gone be any DOTA comps??

Awesome. I can't wait. I need a challenge but, like I said, I'm probably not as good as I think. I only beat the people in my own town, and I live in a very small town. lol. I only found out about DotA about 3 months ago, so I pretty much suck at it but, I'm definitely looking forward to playing it as well. Its always nice when someone beats you: Motivation to get better.

As for all those other LANs, I won't be able to attend them so, till rAge, I'll just have to wait =P

EDIT: Thanx for those links btw. This AI is waaay better than the crappy one I first had to practice with.

Dude just dont feed when you play DOTA other wise your teams gonna get ****ed.
And kick you the next time you join its fine to be a noob you have to learn somewhere
i really have alot of respect for DOTA noobs(that dont feed or leave games)
Cause some of these guys have been playing it for years FROM v3 and at lans alomost every
second weekend playing DOTA about 7 months ago i was a noob myself owned my buddies at a private lan then got OWNED at a public lan.

But yeah would like to play Original for a change 1v1 and some 2v2 games
Maybe youl kick my ass only playing DOTA these days had alot of catching up to do
Now i can kill the best of them.

I was just wondering if there is a way to adress the issue of people who just quit the game. Last year at rage it was impossible to play dota (or at least a full game) because as soon as someone gets first blood the guy who dies quits. Rage is a big place so it is almost impossible to track the guy... Something like the online server will really be appreciated but I don't know if that is possible over a lan. Any ideas?

well i agree we have to do something about quiters.The only thing i can think of what we can do is to host a b-net server @ rage.That way we will be able to ban the ppl for like 10 mins when they quit.Just long enough that they get the idea they shouldn't quit.I mean when some1 quits a dota game they spoil the game for 9 other gamers.I don't mind hosting it.Or we can maybe get one of the vc crew to host it.With a few of war3za trusted dota players that will be at rage as admins.I think it could work.

It will also make any dota comps they planning on holding @ nag lan easier to maintain.

I agree.. theres a difference between newbies and noobs.. a newbie is willing to learn / help his team, but a noob refuses to take advice and will forever be stuck ****ing other people off.

how is the standard of dota at rAge? does it compare to the average [0] game on twilight bnet or are the people actually skillful?


and if there is a tournament, do you need to pay extra to enter it? and does it limit you to only playin tourney or can you still play in open lan?

he said he will be hosting a competition in the open lan section. And yes there will probaly be a small fee to enter this. But you will be able to play comp and open lan.

He also always host a bnet server over lan so all you're questions are answered there

Seeing as this is a DotA post and most of you know the game, I'd like to ask: Heroes, such as the Spirit Lancer, who can create duplicates of themselves, do you gain exp and gold if you kill the duplicates? I haven't checked yet, I keep forgetting and the Spirit Lancer is one of my favorite characters.

No XP or gold is gained when killing an image or illusion. the only exception to this rule is meepo but his stuf isn't really images its more clones so ya. there you go question answered
