Sorry with reference to the port scanning and hax comment-I like to keep abreast of who's who when it comes to my PC so can I have a program that details each port and its activity?

I will post the name of the program asap.
It's just I can keep track of any trojans trying to access my PC and I can block certain ports and users from accessing my resources this way.
I wont be doing any scanning or haxxxoring of any kind.
It's just little paranoid old me being protective as I know the viruses that people ' don't ' know they have.

The program is DiamondCS port explorer...Guess thats a port explorer with hacking abilities so I think its not ok.

Most anti-virus and firewall software these days have some form of activity display. It should serve you fine with getting a quick glance on what is open, what is attacking which port on your machine etc. Thus to have a program that scans other PC’s open ports would not be allowed. This activity report is one of the things that can become problematic in software like Norton etc. with an intruder popup. These popups disturb the gamers when playing.

Scanners also cause a lot of traffic on the network that kills the bandwidth. We will most likely setup wins, so you should be able to browse the network for those powerpoint files that are so popular. If you are not 100% sure about the software, ask us at the event and we will have a look.

Last year people did leave the event because of scanning and hacking, don’t spoil your weekend, play nice.

Im using a external harddrive enclosure for 1 of my drives that uses a plug will i be alowed 2 use it? and are we allowed 2 use usb charger for cellphone?

The rules state that you are only allowed to use 1 plug for your pc and one for your screen.
Does this external harddrive enclosure use a power plug or USB because as far as i know you can use all your USB ports for whatever you want.

Of course you'll be able to host your own servers. :) The Open LAN is pretty much like any other LAN, except there will also be dedicated servers for the more popular games, to help speed things up and keep things uniform. But if you want to jam some Freelancer or Diablo 2, that's entirely up to you.

No provision is being made for PS3 at this time. Look at the Xbox as a trial, if successful it paves the way to expand console participation next year.

Cellphone chargers are not allowed, if you use your USB port, I assume that it should be ok. Personally I fail to see the need for a charger for three days, you come to play games not have a phone marathon. Just be sure to keep your phones safe during the event, and don’t leave it there while you go watch a movie and have dinner.

I’m not sure what the battery voltage of a cellphone is, but I would be careful to use my USB to charge a cellphone, can’t imagine it being in the design specs of USB or your motherboard.

The external HDD is somewhat of a problem. Personally I would prefer that you keep it in your machine instead of external, solves a lot of issues regarding security. Should you really have a need for your drive to be external, speak to me at the event. Do keep in mind though that you only have two plug points as pointed out. Thus in short the answer is no external HDD, pm me and we can discuss it further.

Thx guys for doing the LAN again this year and all that effort to bring us the most UBR AWESOME PONY event of the year!

We went in 2005 and booked a table last year and it was just AWESOME!
We are 16 friends so far that is counting down the days before rAge and would like to know that if we can't book a table, if the first guys can 'hold' seats for the rest of the group, so that we can all sit together?

Ugh, my Sony Ericsson charges automatically when I plug the USB cable in to it. Just as my PSP does.

It works and I guess it's a good workaround for the plug problem :) Just wish there was a workaround for the Xbox 360 problem. Carrying my LCD screen around between the two different areas just won't work.
