So have any of you had any problems since using Windows Vista?

I've had it for a good couple of months now and it never gave me a problem until today. I was working, everything was A-OK and then *mmeeeewww-kaboom* ****ed. BSOD.

It gave me BSOD every boot and nothing worked, startup recovery was failing me and every God and celestial being seemed out to get me.

It took the whole morning to come right, I nearly died because I lost so much work.

but besides that, never a single problem.

Wireless issues with a Wireless Router. Vista needs a registry change to allow for it to accept the DHCP address assigned by the Router.

A bit of a bitch to find the fix on Google, but once done, no issues.

Will let you know if I have activation ssues when I upgrade my graphics card in a month.

1) Didn't work with Vodacom/MTN datacard software
2) Had driver issues with 3G/HSDPA usb modems
3) Issue with Pastel sms seeing that user control blocks apps that create stream-readers and -writers
4) Banking token driver issues
5) XP computers couldn't see shared Vista folders
6) Has issues with Windows server 2003 security policies
7) Older office versions couldn't open Office 2007 (which usually comes with Vista :P) files
8) Trend Micro OfficeScan is not compatible with Vista
9) Vista can't work with older versions of Java runtime environment.

Just a few of the probs i had that i can quickly recall .... no train smashes though.

File - Save As - Excel 97-2003 document. <-- That fixes the compatibility issues.

Not just excel, but the rest of the apps in office.

Well my problem is actually compatibility.
I want to put vista on a office pc but can't because it doesn't support the dx8.1 radeon 9250.
And there is no drivers for vista with this card.......

I'm sure you have fixed your errors already; but for the benefit of the masses:Both should have already been fixed by the service providers - look on your providers website for updated Vista drivers

Correct me if I'm wrong. but that card should work in vista. You just won't be able to enable the aero interface.

Doesn't the normal catalyst driver set work with your GFX card?

There is also an compatability pack for Office 2003 and earlier versions.

Allows them to open and edit Office 2007 word, excel and Powerpoint files.
Available here

Most game give me an error when I quit them. They run fine. Everything is great. Vista just has some weird problem with a game closing. :/

Also, pretty much every game besides the Source engine games will turn my animated "busy" icon on my cursor into a static picture.

Plus there's the bull**** with networking. I cannot make any connection between vista and xp. At all!

Alchohole 120% wont work due to the image DVD drive causing a BSOD.
I was just working on Vista and it was doing Vista updates, it forgot it was an operating system and thought it was a lemon meringue pie and fainted.

There are a lot of other issues I cannot excuse and remember and so I wont use it till the SP1 of life arrives.

The problem I have with Vista is that it seems completely unnecessary - I haven't used it myself but i haven't felt deprived and am told by people who do use it thats its pretty damn lame.

Given the short amount of time we each have on this planet (thankfully, in some peoples' cases) unnecessary things are a waste. *cough*

Guess I've been lucky... I haven't had one issue with vista. All my apps work(had to d/l 64bit version though), no problems with any games, I've had it installed since March last year and it still running perfect. No need to do a reinstall in nearly a year! XP I reinstalled every 3-6 months! The only issue I had was with creative, it took the bastards 4 months after vista's release to bring out decent drivers for my X-Fi!!!

Meh-I blame Microsoft for that driver issue because they kept Vista so close to their chest so no hardware or software company had much warning for driver requirements or coding.

I'm glad you had a good experience but I know lots who haven't.

That's not really Vista but more of IE7. Try reinstall it or just use Firefox. I recommend the 2nd option.

There is a network update for XP that adds an extra address layer or something. Just search around the microsoft site, I think it's called 'WindowsXP-KB922120-v5-x86-ENU' at least that's the Windows package I have saved on my PC, can't think of why I would have any other.

No major problems with Vista, except my laptop only has 1 gig of ram, so it struggles a bit. ReadyBoost helps.
