Speaker Help
i just found these 2 old speakers in my garage and would like to use them with my pc. the problem is they weren't designed for a computer. the one speaker has a fairly big 'headphone-like' jack (i think its for a hifi) the other has had its conector cut off. the both still have cabling and i'd like to know if i can use them and what i'd need to do.
They won't work without an external amplifier.

Could you possibly take a photo of the speakers, and the ends of the cables so we can figure out exactly what's going on. Cause the people here are assuming that you just have two loose (car) speakers floating around. Whereas the fact that you say there is a jack on the end of one makes me suspect that their possibly is an amp built in. Although I could quite possibly be wrong.
If you can't take a photo, are they just 2 loose speakers, like car speakers. Or are these speakers in boxes? Is there possibly an amp hidden in one of these boxes?
Actually, I'm assuming they're hi-fi speakers.

i think there hifi speakers found them in a aiwa box but i cant find an amp my mum says their from an old hifi of hers
Well then, as Azimuth and Plopshop quite correctly said, you'll need an amp to connect them to.
You can plug them directly into the computer, if you have the correct connectors, but you will get virtually no sound out of them.
