Thread: HD or SD trailers?

  1. #1

    Default HD or SD trailers?

These days, more and more game trailers are being released as HD (High Definition) trailers. Do you personally prefer SD (Standard Definition) trailers, or HD trailers? If you prefer SD, make a post saying why (computer specs?), and if you prefer HD trailers, also drop a note if you want with your PC specs and what you use to play them!

    HD > My cap.
So I prefer Standard Definition trailers.
But I would rather watch trailers in HD.

SD gets my vote; basically the same as H3adSho7 said, the Cap's a bastard.

I voted HD, but sometimes my PC battles. I almost never download trailers of any kind, so cap isn't a problem... I just watch the ones on the Cover DVD. :D

If its HD on the cover dvd then my vote is yes.

I bought myself a 20.1" LCD the other day so when I watch low res movies on it they really don't look great.

I only use K-Lite and MP11 it seems as though when you install K-Lite codec pack MP11 also uses those codecs when needed which is nice. K-Lite plays everything I throw at it.

    K-Lite:

My PC can most definitely run HD trailers. The reason I voted for SD trailres is because the are smaller and therefore means more content will be on the disc. I almost never watch a trailer more than once anyway, so HD is waste.

In this case I vote quantity>quality.

SD, for PC spec reasons. I don't have a dinosaur of a machine (hey, it ran C&C3 and FEAR), but I want a movie, not a slide show ^^;. In cover DVD terms I second the above post: quantity over quality.

HD. Much nicer but pwns my cap. My PC is well equipped to play HD videos so its my vote.

HD all the way. Quality over quantity. :P
I would rather watch 1 or 2 good quality vids of a game/games then 5+ vids were you can not see how good the game looks.

Pffft. I don't care about "how good the game looks"! I want to see some ****ing gameplay.
Because Graphics does not equal Gameplay. This is why UT2007 will probably suck.

    Gameplay from a Vid? lol
There is no way you can see/say how a game plays other then you sitting in front of it playing it yourself.

If you want to see the gameplay go play a demo.

SD for me. The HD movies are beautifull but it kills my PC.

@Yuan: True but.......I'm starting to care less and less about visuals everyday. When I watch a preview of a game I want to see elements of the gameplay and such, if I want to see how pretty the game is (most games these days look stunning anyway) I'll look at pics.

My outlook on life is usualy quality over quantity but in this case, quantity over quality thanx.

I prefer HD, but only if it's a top-notch clip (such as the GTAIV trailer, etcetera). I think the “lesser” games' clips should say SD though.

If the vids were in sd there'd be more space for demos. :-)

I agree with skullhozer/ruandre though. It's ok if the premiun/AAA titles are HD, but the rest should be SD.

I voted SD, mainly for the reason mentioned above - cap.

Sign me up for some of them HD trailers, Mik. For me, its quality that matters, not quantity. HD trailers are teh future!

If you have ADSL that is.

I think the people that are voting aren't realizing that Standard resolution and low resolution aren't the same thing.

Who here that voted for HD actually watches the same vid more than once anyway?

Another thing. By having fewer vids(because HD takes up more space) we could be missing out on some games that could have attracted our attention.
