Watch Berserk. As it gets to the peak of awesomeness it ends abruptly. Not saying that it's bad, it's the greatest anime I have ever seen. It just ends in a ****ed up manner.

Crap, now I want to watch Naruto AND Elfin Lied. And finish Eureka. And do my homework. And eat.

The Momento Mori And Helter Skelter episodes were the most incredible things I have ever watched. When Charles died and they blew him up I actually shouted out aloud, even though I saw it coming. When Ray crawled for her arm and ring, and just as she got there the ship exploded, it was probably the most I have ever been moved by any tv program character.

    I <3 Eureka.

I watched the first ten minutes of the pilot of Elfin Lied on youtube. Holy hell. She blew that guy's heart out! That's pretty screwed, but still I'd like to watch the rest (Damn you small cap! DAMN YOU!).

After MUCH debate with myself at school, I decided and watched Ep 2 of Elfen Lied on Animax (thanks PVR!). Pretty gruesome. I'm not the horror type so I kept the semi-transparent list of recorded programs up. I watched through it. It helped relieve the tension of seeing a head explode without warning like the beginning of Speed Grapher Movie. (That image is stuck in my head forever). :(

How is Elfen Lied like? Is someone killed in every episode? Are we to expect gore every time?

As far as I remember, no.

Sies, isn't that dubbed? Dubbed anime sounds so lame to me. They had it at the OC LAN, you should've gotten the subbed version then.

Well, like wir says, not every time, but it happens fairly often. Plenty of psychological horror to fill in for the lack of gore, though.

I haven't watched it myself, but I've read plenty about it. It is meant to be a more philosophical show, which means plenty of metaphors and "what did they mean by that?" moments. Not saying that it necessarily makes sense, though. :p Anyone who can recommend it to those of us who enjoy more cerebral anime?

Anyway, I'm at episode 60-odd of Bleach, and I'm loving it!

    WATARI FROM DEATH NOTE!

    Cookie plz.

EDIT: Incidentally, has anyone here watched Gasaraki? I'm looking for a new "real robot" mecha anime, and this one comes highly recommended. Is it any good?

    Enjoy, Gazza.

I've heard a lot about .hack// and stuff. From what I've gathered, there seem to be different .hacks. Something to do with a kind of VR or something? Anyone mind clearing up a bit?

    Good.

I don't know my Anim? so well. How was I supposed to know what's good or not? Maybe at the next OC.

I finished watching Evangelion. What a strange ending. I'm gonna watch the other Evangelion stuff later.

The whole anime takes place in a MMORPG world. Every person logs in with a VR device. In ..hack// slash one character is stuck in the MMORPG and cannot exit the game. He has also lost all memories and can actually feel pain in the game. The anime has great dialog. Unfortunately you have to play the playstation games to finish the story line.

You've just fallen head-first into the Great Subbed vs Dubbed debate. ;) It's a matter of personal preference.

Subbed anime is generally very accurate in terms of translation, and the Japanese voice acting is normally quite decent, but some people feel that the subtitles are distracting. Subs also tend to keep things as Japanese as possible, so unless you know a little about the culture there are things that'll make no sense.

Dubbed means no subtitles, but the English voice acting is normally terrible, and they need to tweak the dialog to match the lip flaps, not to mention adapting some jokes for American tastes. Censorship is also rife in some of the dubs. This leads to nuances in the dialog being lost (that's when they don't rewrite everything outright -_-), but means that you're more likely to understand it.

In the end, the choice is up to you. Class over! :p

.hack is simply put the worst anime i have ever forced myself to watch, in the hope of it becoming something great! If i ever hear another SHHHUUUGGGOOOO, or REEEAAAANNNNAAAA. Ill find whoever made that anime and destroy him/her! Its a very crappy childish anime... stay away, bleh

Meh, I'd choose Subbed. It's become a part of my culture, and I even go "Where are the F*cking Subtitles!" when I watch Yu-Gi-Oh and other shows, with of course the exception of 7de Laan every now and then. :D. And when I hear someone talk unclearly I think "Holy ****! Japs! Bleach! Where!"

btw, has anyone picked up some swearwords from anime? They sound quite funny! :D

You are refering to .hack legends of the twilight. This particular .hack should be avoided at all costs. Wanting to see the main characters killed in every episode is never a good sign.

I've been watching anime for 3 weeks and I've picked up two words -I think- Are we allowed to share the words? Or will we get sa****ome'd? :D
