Yeah this year's anime hasn't really been all that great. There has been one or two good ones, Mirai Nikki wasn't bad and Another was interesting but most of the new stuff sucked

True that! This season's anime list hardly appealed to me but the one that really stood out was Sword Art Online. It's similar to the .hack series but its executed very well with that fact that all the players in the game cannot log out and if they die in the game, they die in real life. It's very interesting if you guys feel like giving it a go.

Of the new season I'm watching:

Kuroko's Basketball (Predictable shounen anime, but still great)
Natsuyuki Rendezvous (Drama/Romance with a supernatural twist)
Eureka Seven: AO (A bit undecided about whether I'm going to drop this or not. Some episodes are really bad, but some are good)

Finished:

Kids on a slope - Great show!
Tsuritama - Also great.

None of the above are harem/fantasy.

Watching Elfen Lied for the first time. Not my favourite, but it certainly is "different"... The anime astonishes me at least once, every episode.

Any of you lot watch Bakemonogatari? It's weird but also quite amazing. I like an anime that bucks certain trends and this one definitely does. Granted, it still has a fair amount of tropes it falls back on, but I like the arcs so far.

Superb! The Sequel isn't as good but when you're done with that give Nisemonogatari a try

Watched the first Episode of Sword Art Online...IN HIGH QUALITY! It was really good for a set-up episode.

"You can't log out, if your family tries to take your helmet off it will kill you, 213 people have already died because their family failed to heed my warning, if you die in-game, your helmet will kill you in real-life". Also the mirror that changed everyone into their real-life looks and gender was well-placed. Now that's a game-master XD

If SAW was like that I might have liked it XD

Saint Young Men: Jesus and Buddha are best friends and live in modern Japan XD Can't believe they made that into an anime. "That guy looks like Johnny Depp" says a schoolgirl after seeing Jesus XD

My Balls: Proof that Japanese are insane and/or don't care about censoring stuff, the OVA on the manga, the whole plot revolves around a Demon trying to have sex with a guy because a more powerful Demon is trapped in his...I mean, who comes up with this? Not porn, but you can guess it's just about, even the manga was just about porn to begin with.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions: A whole series based on the game and done exactly in the style of the PSP remakes cinematics.

I'm really liking Sword Art Online, but the fact they reached Floor 49 in 3 episodes tells me it's most likely a 12 episode show
