Thread: The Zim Failure

  1. #1

    Default The Zim Failure

By now half of the world knows that Morgan Tsvangirai has pulled out of the Zimbabwe Elections.

He states his reasons as being, to keep the people safe, and that there will never be free and fair elections in ZIM.

I have added a Private poll.

By now we all know that no matter what, Rob will never give up. It's not worth talking through things now. We need a peace keeping force that's not alighned with any government to sort these messes out.

**** it invade and rescue that pathetic nation from themselves. They just can't stand up for themselves.

Crazy talk over, I don't know what can you do? Try and assassinate the old man and get it over with.

This allways seemed the only way things could have turned out unfortunately.

Bob kept harping on about a free election and so on but kept telling people that he wouldn't let anyone else get anywhere near power in Zimbabwe, I mean -obviously- that would entail that the elections wouldn't be free, and the fact that Mbeki was as useless as ever surely didn't help.

Tsvangirai allready pointed out that Mbeki wasn't fit to handle the Zim situation anymore, and I sympathise with him, I think he's doing the right thing I guess, Bob would simply -not- have given up power and the elections wouldn't have been fair, that much is pretty clear.

Rather not risk the lives of the peolpe for now.

I wonder if the US or the UN will finally take some form of action after the attack and imprisonment of those US and UK diplomats.

I seriously do not understand why Rob has not yet been sniped by someone.

The problem is at this stage he's really more of a figurehead then anything.

His generals are probably the biggest problem and I'm sure they have plenty of equally slack-jawed underlings to fill the gap.

If Bob got assassinated it wouldn't leave a void for very long and would most likely give his generals the excuse they needed to start killing MDC supporters outright.

    -exactly-

if Africa's dark history has told us anything it's that if you take down one tyrant another simply takes his place.

    The problem is the Zanu-PF.

This is becoming our problem with all the "refugees" coming and it will only get worse..total sanctions should be imposed and keep Mbeki out of it as he is absolutely useless...quiet diplomacy is the same lets keep quiet and hope it will go away(Mbeki has been a Ostrich for his entire term , stick's his head in the sand and prays the country will come right)..Let Zuma handle it and he if he is capable of doing something constructive for the country..he can talk the talk but can he walk the walk..lets see

I think we're just being fed the tiniest bit of the story.

There's supposed to be economic collapse, but Race Courses are still going, Restaurants, Luxury Resorts, Golf Courses, Corperations, Shops, Airports, etc...

I'm not saying what is happening isn't true or bad, I'm just saying I'd like to know the FULL REAL story before I get whipped up into a frenzy.

I agree with you. But how are we to know the whole story if there is an "almost" total media blackout?

Mbeki may as well be holding Robs hand the way he's handling things. Why hasn't he been pulled as mediator anyway?

Ja, businesses may be operating, barely, and they mostly trade in money acquired off the black market, cos the banks don't have any.

My sister and her hubby are still staying in Harare and have no intention of moving. They say they have a nice life-style and they look out for each other as a community.

    I say she's nuts!!!

Mbeki is still the mediator, and as useless as ever, but it looks like the UN and EU may actually do something. Now we just need all the African leaders so stand together, and change may be possible

The Times also reported, without citing its sources, that Britain had two contingency plans with regard to the Zimbabwean election, one of which involved the deployment of troops into the country.

Both the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign Office in London declined to comment on the report.

Be very weary of what you read on news24. They are larger rumour mongers than n4g.com
