Chivalry just confuses me. Mostly because few men in my life have ever been chivalrous toward me so I'm not at all sure what to do when they are. It is fun having car doors and other doors opened for you though :) And being helped up and down stairs when my shoes have been killing me.

But, like I said, rare occurrence. I always say thank you, though :)

As a generalised group, women have fewer car accidents, it makes sense then to have a company that offers lower insurance premiums based on that. It just makes financial sense.

Ironically, I've heard that first for women is not actually cheaper than going to another insurance company. This was around the time my sister was getting her car insured and she looked at a range of insurance companies before picking one (which wasn't first for women).

Yeah, the difference is quite startling, I think it generally comes down to women generally being more cautious as a generalised group. And males more likely to revel in the power of their car, to erh, speed and are also more likely to drive somewhat intoxicated and the like.

Sure the data exists somewhere, dont really have the time to hunt for it now.

Fair enough :) Also, more males own cars than females in south africa. But the most dangerous drivers on the road, by far, are the aged. Anytime I see a bowling hat or a mop of grey hair in the drivers seat (be it male or female) I keep a very safe driving distance.
