Playing WAR, SAcred 2 and the Witcher Enhanced Edition.
I can see WAR being a longer term commitment than any MMO I've played before. The PvP scenarios remind me of Guildwars alliance battles which remain some of the most fun multiplayer experiences I've ever had. And the world is so far an interesting setting to bekilling things in.
Sacred 2 is, well, interesting. Never played the first one so I can't compare. So far I'm finding it a pretty and competent aRPG in the Diablo/TQ/DS mould, nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't feel at all ground breaking. There seems to be a serious memory leak in the unpatched game that makes it crash after about an hour. I'll patch up a little later because my cap is dead for the month, although a friend of mine complains that the patched version now crashes every 15 minutes. But she is sailing pretty close to the minimum spec line so that could be making problems worse.
Voice acting in the NPCs is horrible, but the writing is quite funny. The game doesn't take itself too seriously, which was a surprise.
The Witcher though is another story. I've never played a game like this. I tried the demo and was pretty impressed, although it was flawed. When I heard about the Enhanced Edition I decided to wait to pick it up. And I am so glad that I waited, and that I picked it up.
It's so good to play an interesting single player RPG that tries to do something new. I haven't got very far yet, but combat is visceral and engaging, the improved voice overs make for interesting characters, the game looks good and runs smooth on my less than cutting edge system (unlike Sacred 2) and any more and I will sound like I'm gushing.
If you are thinking about The Witcher, go get it now. It is an adult, mature and entertaining RPG experience.
