Thread: The valintines day thread ( you know it had to happen )

Ok so valintines day is on Saturday and I was wondering what the formites think about it and also what they are doing, if anything ?

My view is that valintines day is both good and pointless. It's good in that it generally makes people more likely to try something out than if it didn't happen. For example it gives a easier reason to ask someone else out because it is expected of you to do so and helps overcome shyness. I however feel it is pointless for people in a relationship because it's wrong to be expected to do something special only once a year for the person you love and thats wrong, you should always try to do something for the person you love regardless of the date. I also don't like the idea of the blatant capitalism behind it because everywhere trys to sell you over priced things.

Valentine's is just a marketing ploy. A very sadistic one. But it does have its pro's. Cant wait to see what happens. Wonder how many people will be commenting on their future sexlife?

I never spend much effort or money on Valentine's Day. Stupid made up capitalistic holiday doesn't deserve my money and time. But I usually do something, namely flowers and a nice meal. She likes flowers, I like food. Win-win.

Also, I met my girlfriend on Valentine's Day, so for us it is sort of an anniversary.

Last year I planned the "event", this year it's her turn.

Ok, a small tip for those that will be sending a card to a special someone. It is spelled "Valentine's Day". And although for some recipients "valintines day" may be quirky and charming, my guess is that for the majority the correct spelling would go down better.

    It's just a huge cash-in, that's all.

I'm spending Saturday evening at a Lamb of God, Dimmu Borgir, Five Finger Death Punch and Unearth gig with friends.

    Vamlumtimes is serious times.

I'm spending my Saturday playing games, thanks you muchly. I'm waiting for St. Skeletor's Day on Sunday. Much nicer holiday that requires far less money to celebrate.

An utter waste of ink on a calender! I wonder what horror movies i will rent this year.
Seriously i don't need a day to show that i care! I'll do it everyday... or every other week or so.

Taking the girlfriend out to the lake for a picnick. It's just a good excuse to do something romantic with a loved one. Nothin wrong with that.

Why does valentine's day have to be so special? Why can't you be romantic everyday?

I think its for all the married males, that never get to have sex anymore. Its one of the few days on the calendar that they are pretty much guranteed to get some. Actually from that perspective, quite a good plan, aktually!

And yet I'd bet the moment a husband/boyfriend/squeeze neglects to make some kind of gesture for you on Vday the fool would taste your terrible and mighty wrath! ;)

Its a reason to go all out, you can be romantic every day of the year, but if you had to go all out every day it would get a bit much. Anyone going to a ball this year?

Want to take my wife out for a nice breakfast, and see how the rest of the day goes. We're not big on Valentines (money-making scheme of note), but to show you care is a good thing (and not just on one day of the year).

Besides, we've got our "four years together"-anniversary next week and our first wedding anniversary in May, much more important.
