Default Bring 16:10 resolution support to the Xbox 360

"Many members of the Xbox 360 community use or would like to use widescreen computer monitors with their Xbox 360 consoles, however all widescreen computer monitors have a 16:10 aspect ratio, rather than the standard 16:9 aspect ratio of widescreen televisions."

I'd rather they bring something useful - like a console that isn't a ticking timebomb, but that's me.

Are they not trying to fix this at the moment? As far as I know MS is finnaly trying to better the situation.

Yes - by extending the warranty by three years (useless for those of us who have consoles that don't fall under warranty), and by having future versions fixed.

Somehow, that doesn't make me feel better about the 100% failure rate of the 360, compared to, say, the 1% - 3% failure rate of the PS2.

But I digress - yes, 16:10. They should have it.

100%? I thought the failure rate was 5%?

How'd you miss it? It was all over the news:

    http://www.crn.com.au/story.aspx?CII...&src=site-marq

Microsoft has admitted that every one of the 11.6 million Xbox 360 consoles sold in the past 19 months suffers from a design flaw that could cause the device to fail.

Have you had problems with yours?

Anyway, I don't know hey. The picture looks perfectly fine on my Widescreen PC monitor on HD. I have no problems with my aspect ratio so I can't complain about anything really, except for the size of course.

I'm seriously considering buying one of those cooling units. My warranty has expired so if my 360 dies now, I'm f'ed, badly.

I got myself a Nyco intercooler from take2 to use from the first day I get my 360 (this will be next week!), I do believe using a product like that will help keep the 360 a bit cooler/saver.

I know that I've said it a million times but I haven't had any problems with my 360 but.............I must admit, I'm getting a little paranoid over here. The slightest noise that I hear lately coming from my console gets my stomach jumping up my throat, so badly that I get hartburn.

My consoles working fine, but I'm happy they've extended the warranty.

BTW does anyone know if I need to get the extended warranty by going to a store and showing my previous warranty or is it just an add-on to my previous warranty?

Warranty is based on the serial on the unit, and should have nothing to do with where you bought it - basically, the distributor for Xbox 360 locally should handle warranty replacements, which means technically you should send them your 360 directly, unless the stores themselves have warranty replacement channels set up, which I don't know if they do or not, you'd have to ask.

Guys that Nyco intercooler, has actually been proven to be detrimental to your 360's life, as it draws more power than what the PSU can handle, therefore it damages your PSU, so if thats damaged you are screwed. Just a thought.

LOL, it's worth a lol. The reason I see why they don't do it is to make it sound more like your average everyday wide-screen.

Anyways, I'm curious as to what happens on a 10:16 monitor. Does it leave blank edges on top and bottom (which would really be minor considering the slight differance between 9:16 and 10:16), does it shrink at the width or does it cut off the sides and therefore some of the visuals?

Probably the black stripes like when you watch dvds on a 4:3 screen.

Then I really don't see a problem as the black stripes really are minimal.
