I think it's safe to say that you are by far the most helpful person on these forums. Thanks a million Wesley!

It depends on your hardware, really, but generally you'll see an improvement in performance in the desktop area and to your productivity as well. I love Windows 7 so much that I now loathe working with XP. You will need slightly stronger hardware if you intend to play your games at the same settings as you did under XP, but again this is dependant on what hardware you have. If you're running a dual-core Intel E5200 or AMD Athlon 6000+ along with 2GB RAM and either an ATI HD4670 or Nvidia 9600GT, then you can upgrade and play your games at the same settings in DX11 without suffering a major performance hit that reduces your ability to play the game. |

Windows 7 for me is marginally slower than XP. But then again XP is slower than Win 98 - it's still better all around, so long as your system can keep up with it. Win7 feels faster than Vista - I think it has a feature where minimised apps don't utilize system memory or something, anyway you don't have that sludgy feeling that Vista always seemed to give. I have to work on XP and my home PC is Win7, and coming home to my pc after battling against xp all day is a joy.

I have a question. Okay my friend has Vista Business. He is getting it downgraded from Vista Buisness to XP Professional. Can you do the same with XP to 7 without paying a fortune?

Pffftt. I typed that in Firefox anyhow, it prefers American spelling, which I don't mind. Wut? Upgrade from Business to 7 Professional? It'll still cost you a full copy of 7 Professional, which is around R2200 at most stores. |

Stupid question: I would like to go from XP Home to 7 PRO, which one is recommended, 32bit or 64bit (keeping in mind the installed 32bit XP programmes that I would like to transfer to 7) ? System specs: Intel Pentium Core 2 duo 3.0GHz, 4GB Corsair 800mHz, 2 x 500GB Seagate 32MB, 512MB BFG 9800GTX bla, bla, bla... Anyones help in this matter would be much appreciated :)

Almost forgot. Is there something like a multi user license for Windows 7 PRO on the market? I've just checked out the forums on prophecy.co.za and apparently Microsoft might be (or already have) releasing a Windows 7 home premium family pack license. Thanks.

You'll need 64-bit to pick up all 4gb of your ram...so yeah. 32 bit apps work fine because it uses an emulator...I only had one program that wouldn't load, Dragon Naturallyspeaking. Everything else is 100%.
