To keep us occupied? Should we take this to mean that this game is a nefarious scheme aimed at draining our time, leaving us with our own entries incomplete? :P
It's a cool little take on the missile defence genre, I think; I rather like the somewhat abstract nature of the attackers and defence against them in this case. ^_^ Unfortunately, it seems that when one city is hit, all are destroyed. :P |

Okay, didn't quite finish the last version in time for the comp
so heres a new improved one: Invasion 2 You get points for destroying two or more lines with one blast If you blast and miss its minus one point Its still not compleate, but its definitly playable PS: I suggest Hard+survival oh yes- please take the 20: out of the threads title Thank you :) |

Hmm... To be honest, I think that I preferred some of the elements of the previous version to those that replaced them in this.
The addition of a score is welcome, but personally I find it a little unforgiving; encouraging players to hold off on shooting incoming lines, hoping to cluster them together, is good, I think, but I also think that the lack of reward for hitting single lines detracts from the feeling of accomplishment. It seems that I can bring down a hundred incoming missiles without wasting a single shot, and still walk away with a score of just one, which feels unsatisfying to me. If I may suggest, perhaps instead award one point for a successful hit on a single line, and then increase the rewards for greater numbers of lines, perhaps along a roughly exponential curve. For example: Code:
number of lines hit points awarded
1 1
2 2
3 4
4 8
5 16
6 32
7 64
... ...
Otherwise, I think that I preferred the circular "detonations" of the player's shots in the previous version, and I rather like that version's slowly descending darkness. I also believe that I preferred your previous city image to the current. On the plus side, survival mode is a good idea, I think, and I rather like the big clock that accompanies it. ^_^ |
