Nothing new, but it’s more evidence that Activision is planning to launch the game separately, like we knew they would because cash munnies. This time, according to Call of Duty news site CharlieIntel, a listing on Amazon Japan (since removed, obviously) had the standalone version of Modern Warfare Remastered scheduled for launch on PS4 on 20 June, and on Xbox One on 20 July. Those are the same dates leaked by Gamefly several weeks back, and you know what they say – where there’s smoke, there’s a Pripyat helicopter extraction in progress.
Expect an announcement at E3 and pretend to be very surprised.
Although until now the game has been exclusively available as a bonus extra with special editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, it looks like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is getting the now-also-sold-separately treatment, and I bet you’re so surprised. I’m so surprised. Everybody is so surprised. We’re so surprised.
According to a now removed product page on GameFly (via CharlieIntel), the PS4 version of the game is out on 20 June, and on Xbox One a month later. Obviously this is very much ALLEGEDLY and MAYBE and PROBABLY ALMOST DEFINITELY, THOUGH, BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, $$$ for the moment, but Activision has never actually confirmed that it wouldn’t be available as a standalone purchase. Which is basically the same as confirming that it would be, as soon as Infinite Warfare sales had paid for Bobby Kotick’s new space station pool. Expect an official announcement soon.
I was less than impressed by the introduction of paid DLC to Modern Warfare Remastered (REMASTERED), and I’m still not happy about it. But hey, it’s happening, and despite its price tag, it actually looks really good.

Remember when Activision announced that they would only release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered bundled along with Infinite Warfare? Yeah, that was pretty lame. You know what’s also pretty lame? Paid DLC for a remastered title, but that’s exactly what we’re in for.
According to a post on Activision’s blog, Modern Warfare Remastered will receive the premium Variety Map Pack this month which comes with four new (old?) maps, as well as ten Rare Supply Drops. Full details below.
