That Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Legendary Edition that was outed by a Polish retail store, has been confirmed by Bethesda. The edition will come with the most recent version of the game (version 1.9) as well as all three items of DLC. It’s out on 07 June in Europe so expect it sometime around then for us in South Africa.

Yep, more Skyrim news, but probably the last Skyrim news we’ll write for a while seeing as how Bethesda is moving on to other projects. Still, it’s good news for those of you who have waited, what, a year and a half to play the game?

Something called The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Legendary Edition has been spotted for pre-order in a retail store in Poland. The store has the unannounced (publisher Bethesda Softworks hasn’t said a thing about this yet) version pegged for a 07 June release.

The Skyrim: Legendary Edition supposedly contains the core game as well as all three expansions: “Dawnguard”, “Hearthfire” and “Dragonborn”. Pricing is supposedly £29 for the PC version (about R400) and £35 for console versions (about R500). We’ll update this post as soon as Bethesda says “yes this is totally a thing” or “LOL no this is just some Polish people being silly.”

Yesterday, Bethesda announced the end to Skyrim development, meaning there’ll be no new DLC. The reason for doing this was because the team left working on Skyrim content is needed for the next big Bethesda project.

Less than 24 hours after that announcement, Bethesda has dropped the first tease for their next game. Posted on Vine (the 6 second video clip sharing application developed by the same crowd behind Twitter), the extremely brief video shows barbed wire as well as close-ups of old record labels rotating on a turntable.

Obviously, old fashioned music and barbed wire seem to indicate something Fallout related, but no sooner had people begun shrieking “NEW FALLOUT!” from the rooftops, Bethesda PR guy Pete Hines said “Guess again.” We’ve embedded the Vine clip after the jump.

Over on the Bethesda Blog, the guys and gals that brought us one of this generation’s most relentless time-sinks, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, are saying a fond farewell to the game. Since Skyrim released back in November 2011, the team has been busy developing DLC, Steam Workshop integration and novelty additions like Kinect support. While it hasn’t been the entire original Skyrim team toiling away on all of this, it has been a sizable portion of Bethesda’s employees that have spent a solid year and a half of extra development on the game.

According to the post on the blog, the time has come for everyone at Bethesda to get involved with their next project. “That game,” the post reads, “is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet. Even though we’re moving on, we’ll still have minor updates to Skyrim as needed. We’ve invested so much of ourselves into Skyrim and will never truly say goodbye to it.”

Bethesda has announced the availability of a new patch 1.9 for Skyrim. Currently in beta testing on the PC version, the patch will be released across all platforms in the coming months. On top of a ton of bug fixes (you can read the whole list of the fixes over here), the patch allows you to reset maxed out skill trees to 15 so that they can be levelled again to a Legendary status.

“Skills of 100 can be made Legendary. This will reset the skill to 15, return its Perks and allow the skill to affect leveling again,” the post explains. “This effectively removes the overall level cap.” In addition to this skill tree reset option, Bethesda has added a new Legendary difficulty setting.

Personally, I’m not sure why you’d want to lose all the skill perks you’ve spent countless hours acquiring, only to do it all over again for a bigger number next to your character’s name, but that’s just me. Don’t forget that this is a beta patch for now so you’ll need to opt in over Steam if you want to give it a whirl. Simply right click on the Skyrim icon in your Steam library; go to Properties; select the Beta tab and choose opt in on the drop down menu. Don’t forget to back up your saved games before you give the patch a whirl; you know, just in case things explode.

Almost Human has announced that it is currently working on a sequel to one of my favourite games of 2012, yaaaay!

In case you missed it, here is my Legend of Grimrock review.

Basically, if you like the idea of dungeons, monsters, complex puzzles and more monsters, then you should probably check it out.

“Creating a mere DLC or expansion to Grimrock simply wouldn’t have felt right,” said the developer in its latest blog post. “As today’s meeting proved, we still have a lot of ideas we’d like to explore, lots and lots of new content already done (originally made for a DLC/expansion), and a big engine update in the works. Simply put, a DLC would have limited too much what we can do. With a full-blown sequel, we can raise Grimrock to the next level.”

Apart from that, Almost Human is keeping tight-lipped on the project, but more details are expected to be announced in future blog posts.

In case you missed it back in 1998, the original Baldur’s Gate is one of the most celebrated RPGs ever released – often referred to by hardened (and aging) PC gamers when recounting their all-time favourites. It was Bioware’s first RPG, and the game that put the developer on the map, and alongside a few other classics from the year (like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time), has been kindly updated recently.

CD Projekt Red has unveiled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt via the March edition of Game Informer magazine. The “standalone sequel” is set to hit PC and “all high-end platforms available” in 2014. No prizes for guessing that the “high-end platforms” CD Projekt refers to are the next generation of consoles.

The Witcher 3 will be built on the new REDengine 3, which will allow the game to be completely open world in the same way that other RPGs like The Elder Scrolls are open world. That means you’ll be able to travel from one side of the game world to the other without ever seeing a loading screen. Insofar as size goes, CD Projekt is calling the game world “30 times larger” than The Witcher 2, or bigger than Skyrim‘s landmass.

Last month, CD Projekt Red teased an announcement for 05 February. That tease was hidden inside the first trailer for another project they’re busy with, Cyberpunk 2077. There’s a brief video (after the jump) that provides some background to The Witcher 3 and shows off some of the concept art.

Good news everyone! And by everyone we actually really mean the two of you who haven’t given up on Bethesda bringing Skyrim DLC to the lacklustre PlayStation 3 version. All of the missing downloadable content will be available for you to play in February. Hooray! Party hats and cake for everyone!

The most recent piece of DLC, “Dragonborn”, will be available first, followed by “Dawnguard” and “Hearthfire” later in the month. All items of DLC will be 50% off on the PlayStation Store during the first week of their releases. We guess that’s a nice way for Bethesda to say sorry for keeping you waiting for months.

Incidentally, PC players can get “Dragonborn” on 05 February, which is when Microsoft’s timed exclusivity blood pact with Bethesda obviously runs out. That’s 05 February for PC only though – Bethesda has yet to confirm exactly when in February the content will hit PS3. But hey, at least it’s finally coming.

If you missed out on Legend of Grimrock, then you should be ashamed of yourself. Seriously, it was one of the best indie releases of 2012, and to show for it developer Almost Human sold over 600,000 copies. The game also upholds a respectable 82/100 Metacritic score. [You can read Nic's review of the game here. And if you like the sound of it, you can buy it here – Ed.]

“We would’ve been happy with just one tenth of the sales numbers, so needless to say we’re very happy and the future of our company is secured for a long time,” said Almost Human in a post on the game’s website.

Stopping a little short of actually announcing its next project, the developer did release two teaser screenshots (which you’ll find below the break) taken from something that is currently in development.
