One of the finest PlayStation 2 (and Nintendo Wii) adventure titles of the last decade, Okami, is getting a sequel exclusively on the Nintendo DS. Its full name is Okamiden: Chisaki Taiyou (no idea what that means), and stars a new wolf called Chibiterasu. The first details are scarce for now, as they’ve only appeared in Japanese magazine Famitsu. The game takes place a few months after the end of Okami, and bouncing annoyance Issun makes a return to accompany Chibiterasu.
The combat system is reportedly similar to the original Okami, and you’ll draw lines with the stylus to slash enemies, circle trees to make them grow, and perform other stylus actions. While the original Okami was developed by Clover Studios, the sequel will be developed internally, as Clover has since been dissolved.
Okamiden is expected out in Japan by 2010.
