Recently Sony released their most up-to-date sales figures of their flagship console – the PS3, in case you didn’t know – which shows a huge improvement in total sales of the machine for the last week. I’m sure there are a number of factors at work here, including the much more agreeable price of the PS3 Slim, the numerous Slim bundles that are available, and the fact that retailers were populated with this product in time for the festive season, when people are more inclined to spend money, even during a recession. The greater availability of games, Platinum titles and the more respectable lineup of Bluray movies (coupled with the ever-plummeting price of HDTVs) probably added a little to this also.
Anyway, the numbers added up to roughly half a million PS3 units sold in one week. They are unclear as to whether this was worldwide or just in a particular region.
