It seems that Microsoft’s new endeavor, Games on Demand, is going to be incorporated in Games for Windows, which, for the uninitiated, is sort of like Xbox LIVE for Windows, complete with achievements and all the other bangs and whistles. This is an obvious attempt to try and break into the market that Valve already owns with their superlative digital distribution network, Steam. Microsoft’s initial lineup of titles doesn’t include anything particularly eye-opening apart from Resident Evil 5, but is full of those cheap, distracting little titles that some gamers love and others hate, like World of Goo. It will be interesting to see how Microsoft fares in their epic struggle against Valve.
