A recent article on Gamepro made known the estimations of media analyst Wandi Meloni, who processed some numbers to reveal the average cost of creating a videogame in this day and age. The numbers might surprise you.

A single-platform title for our current machines usually costs somewhere in the realm of $3 – 5 million, whereas creating a title for multiple platforms drives the cost right up to round about $18 – 28 million. With this in mind, it’s hardly surprising that developers are looking at ways to streamline videogame development.
