OK, if there’s ever any news on Street Fighter, you can be sure that I’ll report on it. In this case, I’m particularly excited because three more characters have been revealed for the upcoming Super Street Fighter IV – the mandatory upgrade to long-awaited 2D versus fighter. Now, we’ve already had a bunch of new characters – but sod Cody and Guy and T.Hawk and that new chick… whatever her name is, these new faces come from Street Fighter III – among them my favourite character, Makoto.
Makoto is a karate user, but she’s not just another Ryu clone. In fact, she’s completely different. She’s damn hard to use (or at least she was in SFIII: Third Strike, we’ll see in SSFIV), but she really packs the pain behind every blow. When Makoto landed a hit, her opponent knew all about it.
Ibuki is the second new face to be revealed. She’s also from Street Fighter III, and she’s quick, flighty and has a lot of moves. She was also pretty damn hard to use because her damage output was rather low compared to most characters.
Dudley is the final new mention, and he’s a boxer from Street Fighter III, but unlike Balrog, he’s quick and nimble. In SFIII, he had a whole bunch of quick, canned-combos players could use and mix up with his special moves. He was also fairly beefy, and his moves dealt some respectable damage, so he was considered one of the more powerful characters.
