EA have announced a new title bearing the Battlefield logo. It’s called Battlefield Play4Free, it’ll be out early 2011 and it’s being developed by the makers of the free-to-play Battlefield Heroes. If you haven’t gathered as much from the title, this new game will also be free to play. It’ll offer 32-player carnage and combines “the most popular maps from Battlefield 2 with the familiar classes and powerful weapons of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.”

Battlefield Play4Free

Prove your worth on the battlefield by not inserting bullets into teammates and you’ll “earn in-game currency to spend on a massive array of devastating weapons and equipment.” We smell incoming microtransactions. Visit the official site for more info.

Oh, and here’s a teaser trailer, in case you felt like listening to a hard-rock/kinda-metal version of that ridiculously catchy Battlefield theme tune. Da-dun-da-da-dun-dun!
