New Minecraft update brings tons of stuff

Are you still playing Minecraft? We are – a lot. Here at the NAG office, we’re actually losing productivity to this game, and now Notch and the team over at Mojang have gone and made Minecraft just that little bit better. Damn them!

Here’s the list of new content for Minecraft beta 1.5:

* Weather (rain, snow, thunder)
* Statistics
* Achievements
* Detector rail
* Booster rail
* Performance improvements

The weather and achievements are things that have been in the works for a while, but I had no idea about the new booster and detector rail segments. They’re incredible. Not only do they remove the need to build bug boosters to construct your deluxe railway system, but they also give you a use for all that gold you’ve no-doubt stockpiled.

Unfortunately, the update still doesn’t bring Nether access to multiplayer servers, but we’re holding thumbs that it’ll be in 1.6. Achievements also don’t seem to work in multiplayer, but that could just be me.
