And they’re not particularly nice ones either. Fortunately they’re rumours so, you know, nothing to get too worked up over. According to Kotaku’s reliable sources, Nintendo’s Project Café will have a whopping 8GB of onboard, flash memory. Wow! A whole 8GB! Assuming this is true, it doesn’t bode well for Nintendo’s desire to take online downloads and stores more seriously this time around. Perhaps something got mixed up in translation and the machine will have 8GB of memory; now we’re talking!
Next up is the rumour that the new console will utilise a disk format with a capacity of 25GB. What exactly the format is has not been revealed but 25GB is the capacity of a single-layer Blu-ray disk so Nintendo could be making use of that.
Insofar as video output goes, the latest batch of rumours has stated that Project Café will chug along happily while spitting out a 1080 image. What was not confirmed/rumoured is whether or not that’s 1080i or 1080p. Naturally the lack of that defining letter suffix has many people in a complete state of panic. Rumours people, rumours! There will be plenty of time to panic and/or shriek with delight once Nintendo properly unveils this thing at E3.
