In Ubisoft’s next instalment in the Far Cry franchise, we’ll be leaving the dusty, arid planes of Africa and heading back to the warm, tropical climes of an island paradise. Taking a leaf out of People Can Fly’s Bulletstorm, said tropical paradise is jam-packed full of lawless and violent individuals. Don’t expect Skill Shots or Energy Leashes to make an appearance however.
Far Cry 3 will be heading to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2012. The game puts players in control of Jason Brody who is stranded on the island. Judging by the lengthy gameplay trailer debuted during Ubisoft’s E3 event, the developer Ubisoft Montreal (along with Ubisoft Shanghai and Massive Entertainment) has put a lot of effort into characterisation and voice acting. And then, of course, the game looks absolutely gorgeous.
Brutality and violence seems to have been turned up a notch as well, with gory knife kills and executions occurring frequently. Hopefully all the enemies you take down won’t respawn the moment you walk 500 metres down the road this time. Check out the seven minute gameplay trailer below.
