Here’s a butt load of Skyrim gameplay

And it’s courtesy of G4TV and their lengthy interview with Bethesda Game Director Todd Howard. In the 14 minute clip you’ll get to see numerous dungeons, enemies, weapons, shouts, spells and locations in the highly anticipated fifth game in The Elder Scrolls franchise.

One thing you won’t see much of is the game’s menu interface. Anyone who has played an Elder Scrolls game will be able to tell you that you spend a fair amount of time knee-deep in menus. The good news is that the team behind Skyrim has being paying close attention to another company that has perfected the art of easy menu systems and user interfaces: Apple. Yep, according Lead Designer Craig Lafferty: “We’re all actually really big Apple fans, so a slick user-interface was one of the things we really wanted to do – make it feel really natural and polished. We worked so that you get the information but it feels more natural and more inviting.”

Lafferty explained further saying that he and his team wanted to get rid of that “spreadsheet feel” that pervades the earlier games in the series and indeed most RPGs out there. But enough about menu systems – watch this gloriously lengthy gameplay video!
