Quick, go check out www.modernwarfare3.com.  Off you go, we’ll wait.

Oh snap! That’s some A-Class trolling right there! It looks as if the fanboy wars are continuing to heat up; the ModernWarfare3.com URL is owned by some anonymous group and not EA or DICE. The redirect to the Battlefield 3 homepage is a recent alteration to the modernwarfare3.com website. Prior to that it simply hosted your typical anti COD ranting: a video and the following paragraph of deliciously subjective text:

“Modern Warfare is crap. On November 8, 2011, the most over-hyped first-person action series of all-time returns with the copy and paste sequel to the lackluster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Check out the E3 2011 gameplay demo featuring the Black Tuesday level for a look at the epic fail of the campaign. Pre-Order Call of Duty MW3 Today for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC to secure exclusive bonuses only available online for Modern Warfare 3 fanboys who don’t know that Battlefield 3 is the better game.”

Activision does not own ModernWarfare.com, ModernWarfare3.com and ModernWarfare4.com. They do, however, own ModernWarfare2.com so at least somebody from Activision was on the ball with that one.

This perpetual back-and-forth between EA and Activision as well as the fans from both series is proving to be wildly entertaining. This latest episode just goes to show how passionate people can be about the franchises they love – it also goes to show how nuts some people are.
