At this year’s Gamescom, Geoff and I were lucky enough to join in a 64-player round of Conquest for upcoming FPS, Battlefield 3. It was an absolute blast, and this is coming from somebody who generally steers clear of competitive multiplayer FPS games.
The queue for hands-on time with Battlefield 3 was colossal at Gamescom; people literally stood for up to six hours just to play a 17 minute round of Conquest or fifteen minutes of a co-operative mission for two players. While that queue wasn’t the largest (that claim to fame can go to FIFA 12 – I know right, who’d have thought?) it was certainly the one that was consistently massive during the public days of the show.
Geoff has written a detailed piece on our experience with the Conquest match; any fan of Battlefield multiplayer should definitely give it a read if you haven’t already done so. Furthermore, video footage of the Conquest map that we played on, called Caspian Border, has finally been released. Check it out bellow and join me in making jet whooshing noises interspersed with pew-pews. I can’t wait for this game!
