Today’s big news, providing Sony and Microsoft don’t announce a collaboration console or something, will undoubtedly be that the Xbox 360 version of DICE’s really, really, ridiculously good looking FPS, Battlefield 3, is getting split onto two discs.
I’ll let that sink in.
Two discs! Damn it! Why do I even own an Xbox 360? I mean come on man! Now I have to get off the couch at some point to swap the discs around? Are you serious? Throw me a bone here, Microsoft! Sony would never make me do that.
This news comes via a Japanese promotional poster for the game, which you can see in the header image. Of course, you’ll just have to take our word for it because unless you can read Japanese script, there’s nothing on there that actually says “Battlefield 3”.
Hopefully the split will be between the single-player campaign and multiplayer; with each portion of the game getting its own disc. This just seems like the most logical option. It’s honestly not such a big deal and there have been rumours circulating about this for a while now. Still, it’ll be utilised in fanboy flamewars across the internet for the foreseeable future. Hey, Xbox 360 owners: do you even give a damn about this? Didn’t think so.
