Rumours: this industry would be boring as hell without them. There have been several rumours of an imminent Syndicate announcement and it looks like EA mistakenly let the cat out of the bag before Swedish videogame magazine, Gamesreactor, could publish their reveal issue.
Set for a debut in next month’s issue of the aforementioned magazine, the first details of the Syndicate reboot accidentally found their way onto EA’s digital distribution shopfront, Origin. Don’t worry EA, we understand: Valve makes it looks so easy to run one of these things.
Facetiousness aside, the reboot of the 1993 cult classic will be an FPS as previously rumoured. You’ll play a Eurocorp syndicate agent known as Miles Kilo. You’ll have access to a host of cyberpunk upgrades called Chips that will let you do things like see through walls and slow down time. Before you get all jumpy about this sounding all too similar to Eidos Interactive’s recent Deus Ex: Human Revolution, don’t forget that Syndicate was around way before people had even dreamt up the Deus Ex franchise.
