Bad news PS3 fans: we’ve just received official word from our contacts at Nu Metro and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment that the Collector’s Edition of Arkham City on PlayStation 3 will not be making the Friday 21 October release date. If you’ve pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition of Bats on PS3 then you can expect your game “early next week”.
For everyone else, it’s business as usual. The standard and “Catwoman Steel Book” editions for PlayStation 3 will still arrive this Friday. The Xbox 360 versions have not been affected by any delays. Here’s hoping we’ll still get our Catwoman DLC.
UPDATE: there’s talk of this delay extending to the Xbox 360 version of the Collector’s Edition now. Furthermore it’s been suggested that the quantity of Collector’s Editions available in South Africa has been reduced. We’ll update this post as soon as we know more.
UPDATE2: Right, there’s a butt-load of confusion going at the moment regarding which editions are delayed and on which platforms. We’ve been in contact with suppliers and retailers and have some more information for you.
Batman Arkham City CE has been short supplied to SA. All allocations have been cut. In addition to this, it has also been delayed, expected delivery is 28 Oct on Xbox & PS3 & PC 18 Nov. This affects all retailers in SA. Customers who pre-ordered in Aug will receive their order. You will need to cancel your pre-order & place a new order for the Batman Std. Ed. As compensation we are giving you a R100 voucher + a Batman Tshirt.
However, we contacted suppliers and were told that this information “is incorrect, Batman PS3 & X360 is available in store from tomorrow. Please note that the PS3 collector’s edition is slightly delayed due to flight congestion and will be available from 25th October onwards in store.”
No mention was made of the Xbox 360 Collector’s Edition being delayed.
However, we contacted Look & Listen’s head offices and were told that as far as they know, some of their stores had already taken stock of Arkham City Collector’s Editions across all console platforms, but that we should get back to them after 3PM once their stores have checked in properly. We’d be surprised if they have the PS3 Collector’s Edition.
We’ve also contacted BT Games but have yet to hear back from them, so we will (surprise!) update this post once they respond.
Alternatively we could all just say “screw it” and wait to see what happens when the sun comes up tomorrow?
