This year marks the tenth anniversary of Rockstar’s genre-defining Grand Theft Auto III. This, combined with the science/magicification of today’s mobile platforms, means that you’ll be able to play the game on your cell phone or tablet next week when the Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition hits online stores.
Mobile GTA III is coming to Android and iOS devices for $4.99. That’s mind blowing – seriously. Maybe I’m just getting old or something, but the fact that a game that cost me R300 back in the day and required a monster PC to play smoothly, is now available for R40 on a handheld device makes me giddy. God bless that relentless human ambition to continually advance modern technologly; except for when we inadvertently enslave ourselves to it, then God help us. But until then, we’re totally good.
Devices capable of running the iOS version include: the iPad and iPad 2 as well as the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. Hit the jump for the list of Android enabled devices.
The following list is courtesy of Kotaku, and I have no idea which of these devices we even get in South Africa. This probably stems from my utter loathing of cell phones, and generally not giving a crap about anything mobile that isn’t made by Apple. Do people still buy Motorolas?
Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive.
