Need for Speed World mimics real life with overpriced cars

Part of the reason why people play racing games like the Need for Speed and Gran Turismo series is to feel like a multi millionaire as they stock their virtual garages with virtual sports cars. Heck, I stuffed my garage with nearly every model of Honda car available while playing Forza 4. It’s part of the fun, there’s no doubt there.

Need for Speed World, the MMO racing game by Electronic Arts, has decided to take the whole virtual sports car collecting thing to a whole new level. The MMO is free to play, but if you want the really cool cars, then you have to pay real world money for them. You could probably win some or all of them, but there are certain cars like the Koenigsegg CCX “Elite” Edition that you need to pay for.

The Koenigsegg CCX will set you back $100, or about R800. Luckily for you though, the car is on special for $75 until 21 December 2011. Hell, cars are expensive in real life – sports cars are really expensive, so why not reflect that in the virtual world too! Also, if you actually pay $100 for a virtual car then you have more money than sense.
