Yep, Medal of Honor: Warfighter has been announced, although everybody kind of knew it was coming for a few weeks already. Anyway, the next game in the recent reboot of the franchise will run on DICE’s Frostbite 2.0 engine, which is the same beasty running Battlefield 3. This news comes from Game Informer, who published the details revealed in the latest OXM magazine.
Unlike the previous Medal of Honor title, the multiplayer portion is being developed in-house by Danger Close Studios and not DICE. The game will be out in October this year – PC players will likely have to go through Origin, EA’s digital distribution platform.
Despite this announcement being met with a resounding “meh” from the internet at large, I’m kind of looking forward to it. I enjoyed 2010’s Medal of Honor quite a bit. I appreciated its gritty take on the modern shooter as opposed to the Michael Bay, Hollywood approach adopted by the Modern Warfare series.
