Speculation pants on people! Bethesda, the lovely people who make amazingly intricate RPG games like Skyrim and Oblivion (as if you needed reminding), have filed a trademark listing for something called “Dawnguard”. Interestingly, this patent was actually filed towards the end of February but has only recently been picked up. This means only one thing: the internet super-sleuths are slacking and need to be whipped.
There’s very little information on what exactly this new trademark could be other than a description that reads: “Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices”.
Could it be upcoming DLC or an expansion pack for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? Could it be an entirely new downloadable game based on The Elder Scrolls series? Website VG24/7 thinks it might have something to do with the Mythic Dawn cult from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion; that same group is mentioned in a Skyrim side quest as well. Who knows? It could be any of the above so the only thing left to do is speculate wildly while we wait for Bethesda to tell us.
