Remember the BioShock film that’s been trying to get into the production phase since 2008? Yeah, it’s still nowhere near filming and that’s largely thanks to it losing another director. Gore Verbinski was one of the directors; he’s directed films like the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies and The Ring. He quit the BioShock film project in mid-February 2011.

Once Verbinski walked, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo took over. He’s now walked as well, which leaves the BioShock film without a director once again. That’s two directors to lose interest and move on in just over a year. Speaking to The Playlist, Fresnadillo said of his involvement with the BioShock movie: “To be honest, by now, I’m completely out of that, and developing other stuff. Right now it’s on hold. The studio and the video game company, they have to reach some kind of agreement about the budget and the rating.”

Oh hey! That’s pretty much the same reason that Verbinski gave when he left the project. Call me crazy, but I don’t think we’re getting our BioShock movie.
