It’s a sad day; The Verge has announced on Twitter and Facebook that last night’s episode was its last. The show may not have been loved by the majority of core local gamers, but it did elevate our favourite hobby into the mass-media spotlight, and that has to be a good thing.
The last episode featured a special segment which looked back over the show’s four year history.
No reason was given for the show’s cancellation, but we assume it has something to do with money, probably.
The Verge was aired on channel Vuzu on DSTV, and was produced by Don’t Look Down. It ran alongside another gaming show on the same channel: PlayR. The Verge’s Facebook page has also announced that this week will also mark the last ever episode of PlayR, so we can collectively kiss local gaming TV goodbye, for now.
