So, PC gamers are kind of into this thing called Diablo III, and it’s kind of a big deal. While some would argue that the game’s always-on Internet requirements are indicative of the state of PC gaming, others would say a game like Diablo III gains immense benefit from it. Either way you look at it, there’s no denying that the game has sold a ton of copies.
Diablo III is now the record holder for faster selling PC game of all time, managing to sell a whopping 3.5 million copies within the first 24 hours. That amount does not include the free copies of the game that came with World of Warcraft Annual Pass subscriptions – those free copies amount to 1.2 million within the first 24 hours.
Compared to the industry’s most valuable IP, Call of Duty: when Modern Warfare 3 launched, it sold 6.5 million copies across all three platforms in the first 24 hours. Considering Diablo III is on a single platform, its 3.5 million in 24 hours is undeniably impressive. By the end of the first week of sales, the game boasted more than 6.3 million players.
Don’t forget that PC gaming is dying!
