Ever played online and had the absolute luck to be lumped into a match against a group of rampant cheaters? Dealing with a terrorist attack online is bad enough when your team makes a balls-up everywhere you look and the opposition had God Mode toggled on. Rockstar obviously identifies with that and has given a clear message to cheaters – play nicely, or you’ll get a taste of your own medicine.
Confirmed and suspected cheaters caught out by Rockstar’s online mods on their servers will now be automatically put into a “Cheaters Pool” where they’ll only be allowed to play with other nutjobs who can’t use their own skills to play the game the way it was meant to. “Anyone found to have used hacked saves, modded games, or other exploits to gain an unfair advantage in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer, or to circumvent the leaderboards will be quarantined from all other players into a ‘Cheaters Pool’, where they’ll only be able to compete in multiplayer matches with other confirmed miscreants,” Rockstar explains in a blog post. If cheaters are allowed back into normal society but use their dark, evil powers again, they’ll be banned by Rockstar indefinitely.
I like this method. Keep the online jerks away from the players who are just in the match to have fun or to win (legitimately). Remember kids, in no scenario or circumstance is cheating a good thing!
