Has anyone else noticed how many CNA stores are getting serious facelifts at the moment? The company’s actual shopfronts aren’t the only aspects getting revamped however, as CNA has also recently re-launched their website.
Now, I’m not sure whether this is good news or bad news for gamers’ financial situations, but whichever it turns out to be, it’ll result in more games more often. Oh wait, that can only be good. If you have an Edgars or Jet account, you can now buy and pre-order games at CNA Online, and charge the purchases to your account. This also means that you’ve now got an alternative when it comes to buying and pre-ordering online if you don’t have a credit card. Once charged to your account, you can choose to pay off your gaming splurge over a couple of months instead of immediately.
Full press release after the jump. Alternatively you can head on over to the shiny new CNA website to take advantage of a gaming sale that ends on 15 July.
Gamers Can Now Buy on Account
CNA’s new website enables gamers to buy games on Edgars and Jet accounts.
Johannesburg, 26 June, 2012 – Many gamers love to pre-order their games online so that they can get their hands on the game as soon as it is launched and this usually requires the use of a credit card. However CNA’s revamped website (http://www.cna.co.za) makes online purchases that much more accessible to gamers through the Edcon Group’s credit products.
David Gibbons, Edcon’s e-Commerce Executive who is spearheading the group’s online retail offering, says gamers with an Edgars or Jet account can now purchase gaming hardware, software and accessories online 24/7 from CNA and benefit from affordable repayments.
“The new site opens up online shopping to the Group’s almost 3.9 million existing account holders. Customers will also be able to earn Thank U points on all online purchases,” he says.
“Buying games can be difficult for gamers as the major AAA titles often release during the same month, which sometimes forces gamers to choose which games they want to play first according to what they can afford”, Gibbons says. With account purchases, gamers can now buy all the titles they want at one time and pay them off over several months.
The site has a new, fresh look and is easy to search with thousands of products already on offer across four product categories: books, games, movies and music along with 10 000 eBooks. CNA is growing the site’s inventory continuously.
Research shows online retail is growing
Recent research from World Wide Worx, commissioned by Google, indicates online retail is becoming increasingly popular in South Africa, growing around 30 percent per year with no signs of slowing down.
“Opening up e-commerce to our entire base of account holders is another positive step to growing the Internet economy in South Africa,” says Gibbons.
A survey from local gaming site MyGaming shows that of the 1045 respondents, over 80 percent indicated that they shop online. Gibbons says the new CNA site increases the options for payments on games, making gaming more affordable with easy payment terms.
New user-friendly interface and payment process
Along with the new design, CNA has re-engineered its entire e-commerce process.
“The e-commerce platform that powers the site is new and far more powerful than the previous system. Furthermore we’ve changed the logistics process and will now hold stock in a centralised warehouse as opposed to distributing products from stores, resulting in a more efficient fulfllment process” he says.
Gibbons says CNA’s site is secure, uses SSL security and is verified by Entrust. Purchases can be made using a credit card or store account, with a one time pin on account payments adding to users’ security.
Gamers can take advantage of special offers running on www.cna.co.za from 22 June to 15 July, for example, there is a saving of R250 on the PSP1000 which is now R949.90.
Delivery will occur nationwide within three days, on average. The delivery charge on all purchases over R350 will be waivered; otherwise a R55 delivery fee will apply. Customers with any queries can contact the customer service call centre on 0860 262 289 and return any online purchases at their nearest CNA store.
